Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni was born 540 years ago on March 6, 1475.
His preeminence in the art world as being one of the two greatest artists of the Italian High Renaissance (1495-1527) assures that his lasting presence is felt as keenly today as it was five centuries ago. Every year, art lovers from around the world make special pilgrimages to Italy, drawn by a visceral need to experience in person for at least one time in their lives the three greates
